Don’t let the title scare you away. This buffalo chicken dip is nothing short of amazing! Most people think healthy = cardboard-flavored deprivation. But, you won’t find any of that here.
Let’s face it- most dips are unhealthy. The savory ones begin and end with cheese. And, the sweet ones are laden with sugar, among other things. Plus, they tend to be served with…let’s just say…not the healthiest foods. But, this dip is AMAZING with broccoli and other veggies! Seriously! Would I lie to you?!?
This Buffalo chicken dip is loaded with protein and veggies. It begins with chicken and bell peppers. Sure, there’s some cream cheese and cheddar cheese, but they are the beautiful accents and not the main event.
Creamy. Spicy. So DAMN GOOD. No one will be missing anything. Except maybe that feeling in your stomach when you’ve indulged in too much rich food…

Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip
Ingredients
- Olive oil
- 2 small or 1 large bell pepper, diced
- Salt and pepper
- 1 1/2 - 2 c. cooked chicken, diced
- Zest of 1/2 lime
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 4 oz. light cream cheese
- 1/2 - 3/4 c. hot sauce (similar to Frank's)
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. shredded cheese
- Optional: chopped scallions
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, heat 1 Tbsp. of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the peppers for 4-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Then, add the chicken, lime zest, lime juice, butter, cream cheese, hot sauce, and brown sugar. (Note: if you use tabasco or a smaller/more concentrated hot sauce brand, start with 2 Tbsp. and add more sauce slowly. Frank's has heat, but also some flavor. Other brands and varieties tend to have more heat, but less flavor.) Stir and allow to cook for 2-3 minutes. Next, add the cheese and stir until melted. If desired, garnish with chopped scallions.Serve with tortilla chips, pretzels, or chopped veggies.
