For a juicy burger with a salty surprise, check out this remake of Bobby Flay’s Crunchburger. If you enjoyed adding potato chips to a sandwich as a kid, then this burger is for you!
Bobby Flay is a celebrity chef well known for his skills as a grill master. For many years he had a show called Boy Meets Grill. So, I feel confident he would know how to create a great burger. Flay’s Crunchburger sounded interesting; although, I started putting potato chips on sandwiches as a child, so it’s not exactly a brand new concept! These crunchburgers provide an enjoyable contrast of textures! And, my version features juicy turkey burgers with gluten free buns.
How to Make the Best Turkey Burgers
The secret is to ensure that your turkey burgers stay moist. I like to add coconut aminos (or soy sauce) and freshly grate part of an onion directly over the ground meat. This leads to juicy turkey burgers every single time.
-
In a large mixing bowl, add the ground turkey, coconut aminos, salt, and pepper. Then, grate about 1/4 – 1/3 of one small onion directly over the meat. Mix with clean hands.
- Next, split into 4 evenly-sized portions. Form into patties with an indentation in the center. This will help to ensure the burgers don’t puff up and remain flatter with a more uniform thickness.
- Cook burgers using a grill or a large skillet. Top with the slices of cheese and allow to melt.
- Top burgers with tomato slices, lettuce, and a handful of potato chips. You can also toast the buns.
