Last weekend, I was dealt a crushing blow. The kind that makes you reevaluate. At what point in life was it where I went wrong? How did this happen?? Why me?!?
I went bowling for the first time in 2 years and I was BEATEN by a 2 1/2 year old!!!! Not even 3. As in…can barely say the word bowling. As in…has no idea what winning is or even how to tie his shoes. In my defense, he did have bumpers, a ramp, and his dad and grandpa’s assistance with lining up the ramp, but still, unbelievable! Luckily, I had my chili and mashed potatoes to comfort me after the game!
However, I did beat all of the adults, which is a HUGE win in my book! Finally. Validation. I enjoy bowling, but I realized long ago there would be no bowling trophies in my future. Or maybe I’ve always felt shame and embarrassment from the incident.
So, there may have been an incident in high school where my friends and I decided to go bowling after the Homecoming Dance. And, I may have had to walk up…in front of everyone…in a homecoming dress…to accept a prize for having the LOWEST score. Not my finest moment. It haunts me every time I’m near a bowling alley…
To celebrate my big loss AND win, I invited my family over for lunch. BIG mistake. I have had my current microwave for 2 years and it has NEVER been so dirty!!
Side Note: According to my dad, who put LOTS of beans in his chili, classic chili does not have beans. Thank goodness, because I am not the biggest fan!

If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, I think there would be a three-way tie between ice cream, cheese, and MASHED POTATOES. Yum!!
PS- My potatoes have a bit of Parmesan cheese and cream cheese mixed in…DELICIOUS.
