If you want to make the best, juicy turkey burgers….grate some onion! By running the onion over a grater, it turns into this mush that adds great flavor and moisture!
This dish is so simple, with Italian vibes, and my new favorite way to eat a burger!
Caprese Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4 medium onion, grated
- 1 large or 2 small cloves of garlic, grated
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp. dried basil
- 2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1-2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 2-3 tomatoes, sliced (use plum for sliders)
- Leaves of fresh basil
- 8 oz. fresh mozzarella, sliced
- Optional: Baby spinach or romaine lettuce
- Optional: Italian dressing/Balsamic vinegar
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, salt, pepper, grated onion, grated garlic, oregano, basil, and Parmesan cheese. Mix with clean hands or a spatula to combine. Create 4 large patties or 12 sliders (or a combination.)
- In a large skillet, heat 1-2 Tbsp. of olive oil over medium heat. Brown each side of the turkey burgers for 4-5 minutes. Layer burgers with sliced tomato, basil leaves, and fresh mozzarella. Garnish with torn basil leaves, Parmesan cheese, and dressing and/or balsamic vinegar.
