I was an adult the first time I remember trying Brussels sprouts. I bought a frozen bag and went for a simple cooking method. I can’t recall if I intentionally steamed them or attempted to roast them in the oven, but the result was the same…steamed sprouts with only salt and pepper. Ummmmm…cooking foul. No bueno. Luckily, the next time I dared to try them, they were prepared by someone else who had more sprout experience. And…they were wonderful!
I have learned that Brussels sprouts are best roasted. They pair beautifully with butter and bacon. But, I mean, what doesn’t?!? And even raw, they are much more enjoyable than kale!
You may want to tuck this recipe away until January, but it would also be perfect to eat now between all of the holiday treats! Or maybe that’s just me…
